Abstract
Near-simultaneous observations of 22-, 321- and 325-GHz water masers in circumstellar envelopes are reported. The 325-GHz line is found to be widespread, with 16 detections out of 19 sources searched. It is generally at least as luminous as the 22-GHz line, and several times more luminous than the 321-GHz line. For most sources the 325- and 22-GHz lines show strong similarities, whereas the 321-GHz line is usually different, and often covers a smaller velocity range. It is suggested that the 321-GHz line may originate in regions closer to the central star than the 22- and 325-GHz lines. For all three transitions the maser luminosity increases approximately linearly with the mass-loss rate of the star.
