Abstract
We present interferometric detection of 36.2 GHz Class I methanol emission with the new Expanded VLA Ka band receivers. For the first time the brightness temperatures of the detections unambiguously indicate that the emission is maser emission. Adopting that the 36 GHz maser emission originates in shocked material, like the 44 GHz methanol maser, the methanol traces different shocks than the 1720 MHz OH masers. Also, 36 GHz and 44 GHz masers do not necessarily co-exist and may trace different methanol gas. We suggest that the 36 GHz methanol masers outline regions of cloud-cloud collisions.
